Lucien was the only child of Lord Bastien and Lady Misha of Risa.  He was adored by his parents and had a very happy childhood until the age of eight, when his parents were killed on a trip out of the country.  Lucien was sent to live with his aunt, an eccentric priestess who was gone more often than she was home.  Lucien learned to survive on his own, charming others into giving him the food and supplies he needed.  He decided that as soon as he was old enough he would leave Risa to travel, and when he was 15, he received the symbol of language in order to understand others around the realm.  He spent years traveling, but never stayed anywhere long enough to maintain any relationships.  He was in Shaldani during the first Ebene attack and became unable to leave the country.  He found the Phoenix House and joined up with the others, but it's unclear whether he truly wants to help or whether he'll leave the country at the first chance.  Lucien is handsome, charming, and intelligent and has no problem with manipulating others to get what he wants.
