One of the most contraversial races in the realm is the race of the Humans.
Offering more variation and variety than any other species, the Humans inhabit a constantly changing position in the social
structure that dominates life in every kingdom.

Unique Abilities:
The Human race
is the champion of science and mathematics in the realm. Human beings possess the unique mental prowess which allows
for scientific progress to be both made and comprehended. Where other races are baffled by chemicals and biology, Humans
have an in depth understanding of it. Almost all the greatest scientific achievements in the realm can be credited to
Humans, most noteworthy being electricity and radio signals.
As far as magic is concerned, most Humans are at a loss.
The vast majority of the race is completely inept with any kind of magic. There are rare exceptions to this rule however.
For reasons that cannot be determined, certain mutated Humans, called "witches" are occasionally born with an innate understanding
of ether. If these Humans study and train with masters for an extended period of time, they will be able to wield many
of the same spells as Hylians, excluding telepathy. There are three levels of witches, those who perform spells with
incantations, those who perform spells with hand gestures or with the help of a magical device, and those who perform spells
with their minds alone.
Humans who receive Risan Symbols are capable of accessing the core element of each given symbol,
however, they are unable to manipulate and expand their power the way Risans can. It is far more painful for a Human
to receive a brand than for a Risan because Humans lack the accelerated healing of Risans.
Compared to many other creatures,
Humans have exceptional endurance and can go for a week without food as well as many days without water. When pushed
to the brink of physical stress, a Human will outlast an ordinary Hylian twice as long. For this reason, the finest
farmers in the realm tend to be Human. Humans are also extraordinary skilled with animal husbandry.
History:
Humanity is said to have originated in the land of Beigor. Closely connected with the primates that originally
dwelled in that area, the earliest Hylian explorers deemed Humans to be descended from these animals and little better than
sentient animals themselves. In the days before the Imprisoning War, Humans were harvested by Hylian traders and sold
as slaves, filling jobs of manuel labor in Hyrule.
In time, Humans began to develop their own culture. Many kingdoms
of the mainland, most notably Catalan and Miranda, were founded by rogue Human slaves who ran away from their masters to gain
their freedom. In the centuries following the Imprisoning War, slavery was abolished in Hyrule, but the bitterness still
existed. While Beigor, a Hylian outpost peacefully became a free and independent nation, the intellectual capital of
the realm, Catalan entered into nearly a thousand years of fierce hatred with Hyrule, culminating in an all out war that lasted
for a thousand years that was finally abolished with the peaceful marriage of the crown prince of Catalan to the crown princess
of Hyrule.
Humans now tend to dominate the realm, settled in nearly every kingdom to some degree. Due to the
fact that Humans are the only race known realmwide to be non-magic users, many Humans develop a condition jokingly referred
to as H.I.C. or the Human Inferiority Complex. Although it is widely accepted that Humans are more or less equals to
all other races at this point, many more jealous types support isolation from magic users.
There are many Human institutions
littering the realm. Thuy Conservatory, the largest university in Beigor, is dominated by Human students. It is
considered the finest school in all of the realm. The national sport of roller skate racing, popular in Catalan, has
gained great renoun in recent times as a favorite entertainment and past time. Through it, the use of the radio has
spread to all corners of the mainland. Wayism, the realm's only monotheistic religion, started with the mythologized
meeting of a Magog, known as The Annointed, and a Human spiritual man.
The shared mindset of most Humans is that of
the underdog. Struggling to prove their worth to the realm, Humans cleverly use the tools and resources available to
them, more than compensating for their lack of magical prowess. The model Human society is considered to be the island
of Catalan, ruled by King Artem Barr the first and advertised as a safe haven for those dedicated to creation. Isolated
pockets of non-Human haters still exist in the realm, but their voices are slowly growing silent under the new desire for
Humans to integrate into the realm as equals.
Appearance:
The term "humanoid" is coined after the physical appearance of Humans. They are
considered the most basic of all humanoids, having two arms, two legs, one head, and rounded ears. Despite being basic,
there is more variation among Humans than any other species in the realm. Human have a wide variety of skin tons, hair
colors, and eye colors, though the vast majority are brown-eyed.
Reproduction:
Humans reproduce in a typical humanoid fashion. Females
carry and nurse the young after a gestation period of nine months, although premature births occur among Humans at an alarmingly
high rate compared to other creatures in the realm. Human males become sexually active around the age of fifteen.
Females mature earlier, around the age of twelve.
In crossbreeding, Human physical features tend to be dominant, except
with Risans. According to Human custom, the mother is supposed to name the offspring. A father may provide a middle
name. Some Human cultures are matrilineal while others are patrilineal. Birth traditions vary from kingdom to
kingdom.
